End of an Era at Gladesville: Able’s Betta closes after more than half a century

Able’s Betta Electrical is closing its doors tomorrow after more than 50 years trading in Gladesville.

Able’s was started over 50 years ago by a then young Reg Cain with a play on words of Cain and Able at a shop at 273 Victoria Road Gladesville specialising in electrical repairs.

He moved next to the newsagent in Victoria Road for a number of years before a third move in 1991 to Massey Street where he purchased a rundown former Flemings building which he refurbished.

Reg’s wife Fay, sons Glenn and Allan joined the business and his daughter Kerrie has been part of the business for over 25 years.

Able’s also have a shop in Lismore and three shops in Casino where they will continue to concentrate their businesses.
