THIS WEEK is busy with Eastwood Chamber of Commerce meeting Monday at Club Eastwood with Epping MP Damian Tudehope guest speaker, Ryde Historical Society AGM Tuesday, Valentine’s Day Wednesday, Gordon Jardine’s funeral and Concord Hospital meeting Thursday and Eastwood Lunar New Year celebrations on the weekend.

Plus plenty in between and, of course, the Hunters Hill meeting Tuesday.

SORRY TO hear of the passing of Gordon Jardine of North Ryde at 97 beloved ex-serviceman hubby of ex-servicewoman Olive Jardine. Funeral is tomorrow 10.30am Thursday February 15 at Camellia Chapel Macquarie Park Crematorium.

DE’ANN HESPE heads This Week’s Birthday Honours List celebrating Sunday with family and friends. De’ann is a former president of Eastwood Chamber of Commerce and longtime chairman of Eastwood’s Granny Smith Festival committee and was Mrs Australia 2000 for the Forget-Me-Knot Foundation. A lifelong supporter of worthwhile activities.

John Peter Morrisby formerly of Cressy Road Ryde and Simon Harrop of Eastwood share birthdays today on St Valentine’s Day.

Ru Zhou our TWT Miss Eastwood Granny Smith Festival Queen in 2010 faces 31 candles on her birthday cake tomorrow while Eliza Frazer 2009 Granny Smith Festival Queen runner-up turns 29.

Hazel Myers formerly of West Ryde when she was the West Ryde Chamber of Commerce “Angel” and original Granny Smith Apple mascot for the annual Granny Smith Festival, and now resident at Dr John Knight’s Vimiera Village Eastwood, will face 74 candles on her birthday cake on Friday.

Also celebrating Friday is Andreas Zollmann formerly of Epping and Beecroft and now St Hubert’s Island with his better half the delightful Ingeborg.

Phil Haldeman who was one of the original Good Guys on Radio 2SM when it ruled the airwaves and served as an Alderman on Hunters Hill Council when we called him Alderman Haldeman the Mayor Woolwich will receive his OBE on Saturday, not necessarily from The Queen, but equally impressive as Over Bloody Eighty.

Somewhat younger Johannes Eichmeyer son and heir of our Ulrike Eichmeyer Booth will celebrate in Vienna with his bride Jana from the Czech Republic with family and friends.

Lizzie Graham daughter of former Ryde Mayor Peter Graham OAM and the late Bessie Graham faces 35 candles on her birthday cake on Sunday same day as Trevor Maxted elder son of Eva and the later Frank Maxted of North Ryde and brother of Ian who is married to JB’s niece Gorgeous Georgina Gilkes Maxted of Beecroft.

Elaine and Les Duncan of Ryde Road Gladesville celebrate 63 years wedded bliss on Monday.

Margaret Cooper better half of Peter Cooper celebrates Tuesday same day as Ian Maxted of Beecroft younger son of Eva and the late Frank Maxted of North Ryde and father of Michael, Rebecca and Hayley and hubby of Gina.
Harold Hill Junior formerly of Bird Street East Ryde and son of the late Harold and Molly Hill celebrates 68.

Former Ryde Councillor Jeff Salvestro-Martin turns 55 next Wednesday same day as Helga Germeroth celebrates in Munich and Catherine Brewer in Sydney. Happy daze all.
