One hundred million local investment from AstraZeneca

Bennelong MP John Alexander spoke at the 6oth Anniversary of local company AstraZeneca on Wednesday.

The anniversary event was also attended by  Manufacturing Director AstraZeneca Australia, Mark Morgan, Chief Executive Officer AstraZeneca, Pascal Soriot; AstraZeneca Country President, Australia and New Zealand Liz Chatwin

The event saw the delivery of the first of three machines announced earlier this year as part of a $100 million investment which will create additional jobs within the local area and boost the local economy.

“The production line installed yesterday is to help produce 70 million units per year of Pulmicort Respules, a medicine for patients with asthma,” a spokesperson said.

“The medicine is produced in Australia for markets such as China, where it will help to treat a proportion of China’s estimated 30 million asthma sufferers.”
