Leave it alone, it’s a well established day for all Australians even if a lot of us don’t know why.
Let’s have another day for Aboriginal Australia and let Aboriginal people nominate it. I might point out that we have a spare holiday that is almost redundant, how about a little re-packing of Queen’s Birthday?
There is a bigger question. Why are we messing around with this silly debate when we have a government that rejected the recommendation for a Makarrata Commission out of hand only a few months ago?
Until the nation deals with those fundamental questions no amount of tweaking holidays will start to set things right.
