Eastwood Lunar New Year Celebrations Start Saturday
Eastwood’s 9th Annual Lunar New Year Celebrations were launched last Friday on Eastwood Plaza at a media conference to celebrate 2017 The Year of the Rooster and to farewell the Year of the Monkey.
Ryde Councillor Justin Li was master of ceremonies and welcomed guests, event sponsors and community leaders including Epping MP Damien Tudehope, Police Inspector Michael Dawson, Ryde Citizen of the Year 2017 Warren Smith, Caroline Xu OAM, former Community Relations Commissioner Tony Pang and Greg Barclay of Eastwood Hotel.
Organising Committee chairman Hugh Lee OAM said the festival will continue to promote Eastwood’s Chinese, Korean and other Asian food, heritage and culture through a series of entertaining events and performances.
He said he was confident that this year’s event will build on the success of previous years.
“Our goal is to promote Eastwood as the food capital of Sydney’s North West”, Hugh Lee said.
“From our humble beginnings the event is now recognised across Sydney and promoted widely in the Australian media”.
“I thanks our hard working volunteers, our generous sponsors and the continued support of the City of Ryde”.
