Police News: Car crashes into restaurant

DINERS were forced to evacuate a restaurant in North Ryde last Friday (27/4) when a car crashed through a restaurant wall.

The crash occured around 8.30 pm and the Ford Territory damaged a restaurant kitchen wall.

Restaurant patrons and staff were removed from the property as a precaution.

The driver has been identified as a 79-year-old man and neither he or his female passenger were injured.

He was breath tested at the scene and returned a negative result.

Occupants in a unit above the restaurant were moved into alternative accommodation within the complex as an additional precaution by the property owner.

Officers from Fire and Rescue NSW attended and assessed the structural damage to the wall.


COCAINE and cannabis were allegedly found in a car in Dorothy Street, Ryde last Thursday (26/4).

Police say they seized the drugs around 4.20 pm before charging a 20-year-old Strathfield man with possession of a prohibited drug.

It’s alleged the man and his friends were caught after a tip-off from the public before police who attended the location, observed – from across the road – the men preparing a small amount of white powder into ‘lines’ lines.

in a search of the vehicle, police allegedly found both cocaine and cannabis.
