Big Macca’s pleasant surprise for Ray

STROKE sufferer Ray Dickerson received a pleasant surprise recently when South Sydney rugby league legend Bob McCarthy and Warren Thompson of the Men of League Souths Cares organisation paid a visit to his Concord West home.

Ray, a staunch Rabbitohs supporter, is pictured with champion forward McCarthy and Thompson, his son Rod and grandchildren Les and Alexa.

It was a memorable experience for Ray, a talented fullback with Eastern Suburbs Catholic Club during his heyday, who shared a few laughs while talking about Souths’ halcyon days in the 1960s and early ‘70s.

Rod – a former Burwood United junior – organised the visit with Souths Cares after his dad struggled to get around after having a stroke. A chuffed Ray appreciated the visit and opportunity to meet up with one of his Souths’ luminaries.
