Drunks charged after West Ryde fight

TWO drunken men were arrested after a fight in West Ryde on Monday night.

The 18 and 26 year olds from Rydalmere had left a licensed premises around midnight and police allege the 18 year old pushed the 26 year old against a glass window before the fight broke out.

They were taken to Ryde Police Station and charged with Affray to appear in Burwood Local Court.

A police statement said both men were under the influence of alcohol and investigations are continuing.


A SILVER MERCEDES burst into flames on Epping Road, North Ryde on Monday.

The incident occured around 12.45pm and the fire is reported to have broken out while the Mercedes was travelling on Lane Cove Road.

The driver and a passenger fled the vehicle which then burst into flames.

Police diverted cars and pedestrians from the area before Fire and Rescue officers extinguished the blaze.

Police believe the fire was caused by an electrical fault.


SUSPECTED SHOPLIFTERS were arrested in Epping and Macquarie Park last week.

A 44 year old woman from Epping was arrested and charged with shoplifting from an Epping supermarket around 2pm on Friday and a 50 year old Marsfield man was arrested and charged around 9.45pm on Monday, April 18.

The woman was banned from the supermarket for 12 months and is due to appear in Burwood Court on May 10.
