RIDING for the Disabled Association (NSW) Ryde Centre in Culloden Road Marsfield had an early visit recently from the Easter Bunny.
The Easter Bunny gave away free chocolate eggs and drew the raffle at the RDA’s recent Car Boot Sale & Fair – raising money to continue the good work of the volunteers assisting disabled riders to improve their coordination, muscular development and build self esteem through the equine therapy program.
Barry Davis, the RDA Ryde Centre President, said: “Our dedicated volunteers get a lot of satisfaction in helping others and it is wonderful to see the community come along to our extensive Ryde facility and support our fundraising events so we can continue to assist the disabled with our riding sessions”
“It costs nearly $6,000 per annum to feed and care for each horse and we have six on site so that adds up to a fair sum of dollars that is needed. When you consider the added payments required to maintain the overheads of our large facility we need the continued support from donors and ongoing pledges to operate” Barry said.
“Demand for rider sessions far exceeds positions available due to more volunteers being needed to join our accredited volunteer training program” he added.
