Several hundred Hunters Hill residents are expected to commemorate Good Friday by taking part in local The Way of the Cross Walk.
The walk commences around 10.15am at All Saints Anglican Church in Hunters Hill and stops at the Hunters Hill Congregational Church in Alexandria Street before it winds its way across to overpass to St Joseph’s Aged Care at The Hunters Hill Village and onto The Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church.
Scenes from the Stations of the Cross will be played out along the route by Richard KorKor (Jesus) and Diana Tucker (The Virgin Mary) as well as local parishioners enacting roles as apostles and soldiers.
The Way of the Cross is an annual Good Friday event and refreshments are served at the end of the walk.
Richard KorKor has come out of retirement to play the central role again this year although it will be Diana Tucker’s first appearance.
“I’m very excited and honoured to be Mary and to serve my parish at the Holy Name of Mary Church,” Diana Tucker said.
“It will be a spiritual and reflective experience for me and I look forward to it.”
Richard Korkor had retired from the role last year, but will do so again due to the illness of another actor.
“Playing Jesus Christ in The Passion is definately a very emotive, spiritual experience for me, especially the crucifixion,” he said.
Street, Hunters Hill to the Congregational Church and then to St Joseph’s Aged Care next to the Hunters Hill Village and to The Holy Name of Mary Church.
If raining, the event will be held in the Holy Name of Maria Church hall.
