ANZAC DAY commemorations start in earnest this week with Anzac Sunday and numerous Dawn Services dominating around TWT Territory including The End of the Centenary of ANZAC with NSW Governor, General David Hurley at the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway at Concord this Sunday at 5.30am.

GOLD MEDALS have been in abundant supply at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in the past two weeks but there should be a special medal struck made of mud for the dunderheads who organised the opening and closing ceremonies headed by failed Queensland premier Peter Beattie. What a disappointing waste of space and time.

The Queen celebrates 92 majestic years on Sunday while Anthony Roberts will celebrate a more modest 48 years tomorrow Thursday with better half Alicia and three sons John Anthony, Samuel Donald and Thomas Alfred and other family members and friends. He will also celebrate fifteen years in State Parliament on Thursday week April 26.

Ron Taffa of Taffa’s Mitre 10 hardware fame celebrates a golden 90 today with better half Margaret and family including son Anthony, daughter Julianne and families.

Brian McErlane also celebrates today with better half Sue and a special round at North Ryde Golf Club while Merete Dahl celebrates in Denmark.

Norm Garten OBE will be celebrating his OBE plus four on Thursday same day as former Councillor Andrew Ho a modest 43.

Malcolm Beville has a birthday Friday same day as Betty Cuthbert would’ve been able to add OBE (Over Blooming Eighty) to all her honours while Rowan and Debbie Price celebrate 27 years wedded bliss and Rosalia and Sebastiano (Sam) Gagliano of Gladesville celebrate 66 years wedded bliss.

John Brown of Ryde Rotary faces 75 candles on his birthday cake Saturday same day HM QE2 faces a right royal 92 and JB cousin Chris Lovett celebrates with his better half Margaret.

Stephen Chan of Eastwood Chinese Senior Citizens Club shares a birthday with John Lees on Saturday same day Alex and Olga Sawyer celebrate 55 years wedded bliss.
