JB’s World: Anzac Day crowds seem to be growing

ANZAC DAY crowds seem to continue to grow in TWT Territory especially as the younger brigade increasingly play larger roles in commemorations with school students being invited to give the Anzac Address and present what Anzac Day means to them today. We give you some examples inside this week.

VIC TAGG, former mayor of Ryde and President of Eastwood Chamber of Commerce, President of Ryde Lions Club and chairman of Ryde-Hunters Hill Life Education and current bowls champion heads this week’s birthday honours list, celebrating six days in advance today with lunch at North Ryde RSL Club with NSW Senior Citizen of the Year Dr John F Knight AM, who was Ryde Citizen of the year when Vic was mayor, David Knight, Ulrike Eichmeyer and JB.

Madeleine Bond daughter of local car driving ace Colin Bond turns 36 today same day as Max Hill faces 85 candles on his cake and Matilda Smith daughter of Rev Mark Smith and Anna Smith celebrates with siblings Adelaide, Declan, Josephine and Audrey Honor party at Lithgow where dad is minister at St Paul’s Anglican church.

Bob and Celia Johnston celebrate 65 years wedded bliss in Putney today.

Sunday is also a busy day for JB family members: sister-in-law Margaret Barnier Booth better half of JB twin brother Dr Peter Arthur Booth celebrating in Pommieland where they have lived since honeymoon days following their wedding in Eastwood’s St Phillip’s church; cousin Ron Booth younger son of WW2 veteran uncle George Booth and auntie Nellie and brother of Alan born at Ryde and now resident in Grenfell where our fathers were born; great niece Hayley Elizabeth Maxted turning twenty younger daughter of Gina Gilkes Maxted and Ian Maxted formerly of North Ryde and now Beecroft.

Monday it’s the turn of Richard Price turning 43 and Mark Chan.

Tuesday is Buddha’s Birthday coinciding with Vic Tagg and Alison Small of Putney and local Cub Scouts leader and better half of former Deputy Police Commissioner Clive Small. Happy daze all.
