JB’s World: Australia Day upon us again

AUSTRALIA DAY Friday January 26 is nearly upon us again, so spare a thought for some previous Order of Australia recipients who are confined to hospital or rehab beds this Australia Day.

They include Maria Venuti AM, who suffered a severe stroke a year ago, and Neita Matthews OAM, who I visited a few days ago in Ryde Hospital following a fall at home.

Also in Ryde Hospital is Joe Bolton, hubby of Anne Bolton who just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Mad Balmain Tigers fans Joe and Anne were managers of TJ Andrews Ryde for many years.

Early voting in our polls on the date of Australia Day is strongly favouring retention of the existing date.

We will close the polls next week so you still have a chance to express your preference on any of the sites we have available including the web, Facebook, twitter, email and post. Love to hear from you.

Meanwhile have a great Australia Day this Friday.
