Police assaulted during RBT check

POLICE officers were allegedly assaulted by a 21 year driver from Melrose Park last Friday.

The assault is alleged to have occurred around 11pm on Victoria Road at West Ryde after the accused driver hit a parked car and was asked to undergo a random breath test.

Police allege he acted aggressively and assaulted them before he was taken to Ryde Police Station where he recorded a reading of 0.149 and assaulted police again.

He was issued with a Court Attendance Notice for Drive with Middle Range PCA 2nd offence and two counts of Assault Police Officer In Execution Of Duty.

His licence was suspended and he is due to appear in Burwood Local Court on June 26.

In another alleged drink driving offence a 28 year old Sefton man was caught by police on Ryedale Road, Denistone around 3am on Friday.

The man underwent a road side breath test, which returned a positive reading and he was arrested and taken to Ryde Police Station for a breath analysis.

The analysis returned a reading of 0.090 and he was issued with a Court Attendance Notice for Drive with Middle Range PCA 1st Offence.

His licence was suspended by police and he due to appear in Burwood Local Court on July 7.
