HUNTERS HILL Theatre launches its 2018 season with the Sydney amateur premiere of a cracker of a play, which I am delighted to be directing!
Perfect Nonsense by the Goodale brothers is based on a well known P.G. Wodehouse novel.
Bertie Wooster (Jack Mitchell) takes over an empty theatre to stage a show revolving around his recent adventures.
In typical Wooster fashion, events quickly spiral out of control, prompting Wooster’s ever calm and faithful valet Jeeves (David Stewart-Hunter) to step in and, with the help of butler Seppings (Ross Alexander), play the other nine characters.
The stories of Jeeves and Wooster are loved by many, and if you haven’t read the books the characters may well be recognised from the UK television series starring Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry.
The stage play is the first to be authorised by the Wodehouse family. It started life as a one man show for the Edinburgh Festival, then evolved into a full-length production, first performed in London’s West End in 2013.

HUNTERS HILL Theatre is a community group proudly based in Hunters Hill and performing four productions a year at Hunters Hill Town Hall.
The group was founded in 1930 and has been performing in the district continuously ever since.
We moved into the old St John’s Church in Margaret Street in 1995 after an arson attack on the church hall saw it and most of the group’s assets destroyed.
In 2016 the parish sold St John’s Church forcing HHT to find a new home.
With the support of Hunters Hill Council, HHT relocated to Hunters Hill Town Hall in 2017.
The group and its productions are run entirely by members and volunteers and is proud to support the Marist Sisters’ College theatre studies programme by including students in several productions a year.
More volunteers in every aspect of the theatre are always welcome!
