Two thousand Christmas wishes

More than 2,000 Christmas wish cards have been affixed to Ryde Rotary’s four community Christmas trees.
The trees titled “Tree of Joy” are located at West Ryde Shopping Village, Top Ryde City Shopping Centre, Eastwood Plaza and Ryde City Council.
Pictured are Ryde Rotarians Bob Carroll and Adrian Hallett celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Tree of Joy initiative next to the West Ryde Tree of Joy. The wishes are for people of all ages and include many people who have recently suffered illness and financial hardship.
Mr Hallett said this year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Tree of Joy initiative.
“They include a simple wish from an 89 year old who recently suffered a stroke to a six year old who wants a little toy,” Mr Hallett said.
“We are grateful to the 12 charities who are supporting the Tree of Joy project as well as Ryde Public School and Holy Cross College Ryde.”
Residents have until this Friday to post a wish on one of the trees.
